Emergency: Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency has been mired in controversies even before its release. There is a constant demand to ban this film. Kangana Ranaut is playing the role of Indira Gandhi in the film. This film will be released in theatres on 6 September. Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee has demanded a ban on the film. The committee says that the Sikh community has been portrayed wrongly in the film.

Why is there a demand to ban Kangana's film?

According to a report, Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami says that actress Kangana Ranaut has deliberately made this film with the intention of defaming the character of Sikhs, which is in the film. The film is being criticized by the Sikh community. From the excerpts of the film that have been released, it has become clear that the Sikhs have been deliberately misrepresented as separatists in the film and this film is part of a conspiracy.

What did the President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee say?

He said, “The community will never forget the atrocities committed on the Sikhs in June 1984 and Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been declared a “martyr of the community” by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, while Kangana Ranaut’s film is an attempt to distort his character (Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale).”

Demand to register a case against Kangana

He further said that Kangana Ranaut often makes statements that provoke the sentiments of Sikhs. But instead of taking action against the actresses, the government is protecting them. He believes that Kangana has worked to provoke the religious sentiments of Sikhs through the film Emergency and the government should file a case against her.
