Washington, August 7 (HS). In the upcoming US presidential election, Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris on Tuesday chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate. Harris will face former president and Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the November election. Trump has nominated J.D. Vance as the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate.
Walz, 60, helped enact an ambitious Democratic agenda for his state, including sweeping protections for abortion rights and generous aid to families. Harris said in a social media post that Walz had “done a lot for working families.”
Vice President Kamala Harris hopes the move will bolster her campaign in the country's upper Midwest region, which is crucial for the presidential election as it acts as a neutral ground for the Democrats.
Harris officially secured the Democratic Party's presidential nomination on Tuesday.
