Beirut, July 31 (HS). Israel targeted a Hezbollah commander by carrying out an explosion in the southern suburb of Lebanon's capital Beirut. Israel has said that this commander had attacked the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights over the weekend. Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have increased since Saturday. Israel accuses that Hezbollah targeted and killed 12 children and teenagers playing football in the Druze village of Majdal Shams.

The New York Times has said in its report that although Hezbollah has denied that it was behind the attack, the Israeli army has said that Hezbollah carried out the attack. There are enough reasons to believe this. Israeli defense officials said that the target of the Israeli attack in Beirut was Hezbollah's senior official Fuad Shukr. He is close to the group's secretary general Hassan Nasrallah. Lebanon's health minister said that at least one person was killed and 35 people were injured in the attack.
