Steve Smith gave advice to Hardik Pandya : Hardik, who became the captain of Mumbai in place of Rohit Sharma in IPL 2024, had a disappointing start and the Mumbai team lost both the initial matches. Apart from the two defeats, former Gujarat Titans captain Hardik was booed by the fans in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad as the fans were clearly unhappy with the way Rohit was removed from the captaincy. Australia's star batsman Steve Smith, after being appointed the new captain of Mumbai Indians, has advised Hardik Pandya that he should not pay attention to the booing as it is all 'irrelevant' to the booing and the anger of the fans.
“Ignore it, it's all irrelevant…” -Smith's advice to Pandya
Smith advised Pandya, “I would just say don't pay attention to it, it's all irrelevant. No one there knows what you are going through. He is not an outsider in the dressing room.” He further said, 'All this abuse will be shocking for Hardik as he has to face this from Indian fans in his own country.'
“I do not care”
Steve Smith said, “Personally I am not bothered by this. I do not care. I don't pay any attention to it. You know it's all unnecessary noise but the players hear everything and everyone is entitled to their feelings and reaction to it.”
Is this affecting Hardik?
Smith said, 'So is this affecting Hardik? it's possible. They may have never experienced this in any other area of life.” After being released by Mumbai Indians, Hardik led Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in his debut season in 2022. However, he re-joined Mumbai in November last year and was soon replaced by Rohit as the captain, which did not go down well with the fans of India captain Rohit Sharma.
