IPC will end at 12 midnight on June 30, 3 new laws will be implemented from July 1

As soon as the clock strikes 12 on 30 June, the laws made by the British under the IPC will be abolished in the country. As soon as July 1 begins, three new criminal laws made in their place will come into force. These include These include the Indian Justice Code (BNS) 2023, the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) 2023 and the Indian Evidence Act (BSA) 2023. Since the new criminal laws have laid special emphasis on the use of technology in investigation, trial and court proceedings, the NCRB has therefore made 23 functional modifications in the existing Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) application. So that in the new system also, there is no problem in easily doing all the work related to CCTNS including filing FIR from the computer.

Preparations had already begun on a large scale

The Union Home Ministry said that under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Ministry has also started working on a large scale to make forensic personnel aware including policemen, jail, prosecutors and judicial officers immediately after the notification of the three new criminal laws on 25 December 2023. Apart from this, NCRB has also set up 36 support teams and call centers to help the states and union territories in implementing the new laws. So that if any state is facing any kind of technical or other problem related to the implementation of these new laws, then it can be resolved immediately.

Three new apps named e-Samman were also created

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has also created three new apps named e-Saksha, Nyayasruti and e-Summons to facilitate videography and photography of crime scenes, court hearings and electronic service of court summons under the new laws. BPR&D organized 250 webinars and seminars to explain all aspects of these laws. In which 40 thousand 317 officers and employees were trained. Under the guidance of the Bureau, states and union territories trained 5,84,174 employees. To make teachers and students aware about these, UGC made 1200 universities and 40 thousand colleges and All India Technical Council made about nine thousand institutions aware about them.
