IOC releases documents for presidential candidacy

Geneva, 20 December (HS). The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday released the candidacy documents of seven candidates for the election for the post of IOC President to be held at the 144th IOC Session in Greece.

These documents are available for everyone to download and view at ioc.org, and some documents have been made available in English, French and Spanish versions.

The seven candidates, HRH Prince Faisal Al Hussein (President of the Jordan Olympic Committee), David Lappartient (President of the Union Cycliste Internationale), Johan Eliash (President of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation), Juan Antonio Samaranch (Vice-President of the IOC), Christy Coventry ( Zimbabwean swimmer and Olympic gold medalist), Sebastian Ko (President of World Athletics), Morinari Watanabe (International President of the Gymnastics Federation), will present his presidential candidacy online to IOC members in Lausanne, Switzerland on January 30, 2025.

The election for the post of IOC President will take place during the 144th IOC Session in Greece on March 18-21, 2025. The new president will replace Thomas Bach, whose term expires in 2025.

The IOC declared, “The online publication of candidacy documents is an important element of transparency and good governance in the presidential election process, and will help the public and media understand each candidate’s vision for the IOC and the Olympic Movement, if they are elected.” Are.”
