Vladimir Putin Mongolia visit: Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Mongolia on September 3. Mongolia is a member state of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC in The Hague has issued an arrest warrant for Putin on charges of war crimes. The ICC found Putin guilty of illegally extraditing Ukrainian children after the war began in 2022. And issued a warrant for his arrest. Under which if Putin goes to any member country of the ICC, he can be arrested on the basis of this warrant. Therefore, the ICC asked Mongolia to arrest Putin.
Mongolia flatly refused to accept the ICC's request
It is worth noting that this is Putin's first visit to an ICC member country. But Mongolia flatly refused to accept the ICC's request and President Putin was welcomed on the red carpet at the airport. Putin was seen smiling comfortably. After this, he was given political honors and a guard of honor. While Western countries including Ukraine were requesting Mongolia to arrest Putin.
Ahead of Vladimir Putin's visit, the ICC reminded Mongolia of its commitment to comply with the court's orders, saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin should be arrested upon entering Mongolia. But when this did not seem to have any effect on Mongolia, Ukraine accused it on September 2, saying that Mongolia would also be held jointly responsible for Putin's war crimes.
