Mmt bookings for turkey and azerbaijan down: Many Indians are now rethinking their plans to travel to countries like Türkiye and Azerbaijan, as these two countries supported Pakistan in a struggle with India. The impact of the growing online campaign urging to boycott these countries to Indians is finally becoming clear.

According to a statement by India’s largest travel booking platform Mekkitrip, booking for Türkiye and Azerbaijan has declined rapidly. MMT said in a statement on 14 May, “Last week Indian travelers have expressed strong feelings, booking for Azerbaijan and Turkey has decreased by 60%, while the cancellation has increased by 250% during the same period.” However, the platform has not stopped offering flight booking for Türkiye and Azerbaijan on its website,

Nishant Pitti, the founder and former chairman of Ezmitrip, said, “We always think about the country and later business.” He further said that the safety and integrity of citizens should be given priority above everything. ‘There is a lot of beauty in the world; We appeal to Indians traveling abroad to choose places that are safe, promote peace and in line with India’s commitment against terrorism and separatist activities.

In addition, Nishant Pitti said, “We took steps at the national level and we did not work with Maldives for nine months. When our Foreign Minister came to Maldives, we allowed to resume the booking.”

In early 2024, Easemytrip canceled the booking for the Maldives following a tense relations between India and the archipelago, which caused derogatory comments made by Maldives officials about India and its leadership. Last year, 2.5 lakh Indians visited Turkey, while 2.3 lakh others visited Azerbaijan.
