Mumbai/New Delhi, July 31 (HS). The Indian currency rupee has seen a rise during trading. On Wednesday, the rupee closed at 83.72 (provisional) per dollar with a gain of one paisa against the dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market.

In the interbank foreign exchange market, the domestic currency rupee opened one paisa higher than its previous day's closing price. However, during the day's trading it slipped to Rs 83.75 per dollar, but at the end of the trading it managed to close at 83.72 (provisional) with a rise of one paisa against the US dollar.

On the other hand, foreign exchange traders said that heavy withdrawal of foreign funds and overnight surge in crude oil prices had increased the pressure on the rupee. However, the support received from the positive trend in the domestic stock markets was neutralized by the dollar demand from importers. It is worth noting that on Tuesday the rupee closed stable at 83.73 against the US currency.
