7th Pay Commission: If you yourself work in the railways or any member of your family is in the railways, then this news is of your use. Yes, a group of railway employees has requested Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to calculate the bonus (PLB) on the basis of the Seventh Pay Commission instead of the Sixth Pay Commission. Sarvjeet Singh, National General Secretary of the Indian Railway Employees Federation (IREF), said that according to the Sixth Pay Commission, the current bonus is based on the minimum salary of Rs 7,000 per month. But under the Seventh Pay Commission, the minimum salary is Rs 18,000. Railway employees are getting this from January 1, 2016.
Railway's income increased due to hard work of employees
He said that calculating PLB on the basis of minimum wage of Rs 7,000 is injustice to the employees. Many IREF members said that during the nationwide lockdown in the Covid pandemic, when people were not leaving their homes, railway employees ensured the movement of trains. It is clear from the quarterly report that after this there has been a tremendous increase in the income of the railways. Let us tell you that the closure of concessions given to senior citizens by the Railways during Covid has affected the profits of the Railways.
Railway employees will get 78 days bonus
IREF insisted that as per government directive, railway employees should get PLB bonus equal to 78 days' basic salary. But the current payment is only Rs 17,951 on the basis of Rs 7,000. Singh said that under the Seventh Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary in railways is Rs 18,000. Therefore, a bonus of Rs 17,951 for 78 days is very less. This is quite worrying amid rising inflation. He said that on the basis of basic salary of Rs 18,000, the bonus for 78 days is Rs 46,159.
How will you get the profit of Rs 28,200?
If the government decides to give 78 days bonus as per the 7th Pay Commission, then every employee will get a benefit of at least (46,159-17,951) = Rs 28,208. The request made by the Railway Employees Union through a letter said that the Indian Railway Employees Federation requests you to calculate the productivity-linked bonus for all railway employees as per the 7th Pay Commission salary. This will enable them to celebrate the upcoming festival happily and they will be able to continue their important contribution in the operation and maintenance of the railways.
