Paris, August 08 (HS). The Indian men's hockey team won consecutive medals in the Olympic Games after 52 years by defeating Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match of Paris Olympics 2024 at the Yves de Manoir Stadium on Thursday. Earlier, India had won consecutive medals in the year 1972.
The previous instances of the men's team winning medals at consecutive Olympic Games were at Mexico City 1968 and Munich 1972, where India won bronze on both occasions. India won the bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 after a 5-4 win over Germany after losing the semifinal bout against Belgium.
Let us tell you that in the 2024 Olympics, India lost 2-3 against Germany in the semi-finals on August 6, ending its hopes of winning the first hockey gold medal since 1980.
