News India Live, Digital Desk: Indian Postal Department (India Post) has officially released the second merit list of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026. The wait of the candidates for the 28,636 posts left vacant after the first list is now over. In this list released on 10 and 11 April 2026, the cut-off of states like UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh has once again surprised everyone. Although there has been a slight decline in the cut-off compared to the first list, the selection figure still remains quite high.

Condition of UP-Bihar: Those below 95% still have ‘no entry’

The cut-off in Hindi speaking states remains on top as always. The cut-off for general category is hovering between 97% to 99% in major circles of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Uttar Pradesh: Divisions like Lucknow, Prayagraj and Varanasi have seen a drop in cut-offs by just 0.5% to 1%.

Bihar: The situation is even tougher here, where in many rural areas only candidates scoring 98% marks are shortlisted.

Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan: In these states too, the cut-off for General and OBC category is beyond 95%, while there is some relief in SC/ST category at 90-92%.

How much has the cut-off declined?

According to the analysis of experts, the second merit list has an average of more than the first list. 0.5% to 1.5% There has been a decrease till. This is for those seats where the selected candidates of the first list did not appear in the Document Verification (DV) or were declared ineligible. In circles where the number of posts is higher (like Uttar Pradesh’s 3,168 posts), the decline has been felt slightly more.

Document Verification (DV) last date nears

Candidates whose name has appeared in the second merit list should not delay at all. The Commission has clarified that the selected candidates 27 April 2026 It is mandatory to get your documents verified with the concerned divisional head. If you do not get the verification done within the stipulated time limit, your claim will be canceled and the seat will be transferred to the third list.
