26/11 Mumbai attack accused: Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman Tahawwur Rana, involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, will soon be handed over. Rana’s application was rejected
The court has rejected Rana’s petition. In which there was opposition to handing over the accused involved in the Mumbai terrorist attack to India. The court said that since India has presented sufficient evidence against Rana, the extradition order is appropriate. Rana was mentioned in the charge sheet of Mumbai Police related to 26/11 attack. Rana is accused of being an active member of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to the charge sheet, Rana had also helped Mumbai attack mastermind David Coleman Headley. Who had planned to carry out the attack in Mumbai.
Decision taken under extradition treaty
The court said that the decision to hand over Rana has been taken under the extradition treaty between India and America. A year after the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, the FBI arrested Rana in Chicago. Rana and his associate David Coleman Headley had searched for targets for the Mumbai attacks. Pakistani terrorists had made complete planning to carry out the attack.
