Purnia, 22 May (His). Apart from life imprisonment, three accused found guilty in the murder case have been sentenced to a financial penalty of Rs 30,000 under various sections. In addition to life imprisonment in the murder case, the accused were sentenced to a fine of Rs 20,000 and under the Arms Act, they were sentenced to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. Both the punishments will run concurrently. This punishment has been pronounced under session number 320/2021.
The case was based on K. Nagar (Maranga) police station case number 511/2019. The accused who were sentenced include Sunil Yadav, age 40, Madhav Mrinal alias Badal Yadav, age 35, and Shankar Mehta, age 30. This punishment has been given in the court of Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge Abhishek Ranjan.
According to the case filed in the police station by Jaggu Rai's brother kiln owner Jitendra Kumar Rai, accused Sunil Yadav had shot at Jitendra Kumar Rai two years ago, for which he had filed a case. The accused were pressurizing them to take up the same case and pay extortion money of Rs 5 lakh if their demand was not fulfilled on 21.12. In 2019, after going to the kiln, Jaggu Rai was shot dead in the chest, waist and leg and kiln staff Badal Poddar was shot and injured in the chest.
The above sentence was pronounced after the accused were found guilty on the basis of the testimony of the witnesses presented by the prosecution in the court and other evidence available on record. Additional Public Prosecutor Ataur Rahman was conducting this case on behalf of the prosecution.
