Heatwaves in Mexico kill 125, dehydration and sunburn kill 2,300

Mexico City: In Mexico, a 'monsoon region' like India, extreme heat has returned even before the rainy season begins. 125 deaths have occurred due to 'extreme heat'. While more than 2300 have suffered from dehydration (diarrhea-vomiting) and sunburn (marks on the skin due to extreme heat).

The situation has become very serious in southern Mexico. Employees are also trying to provide relief to the elderly by taking them on bicycles to the shade of trees or other shady places.

In the southern Mexican province of Vera Cruz, people have pleaded for martyrdom. They try to escape the heat and sweat by using air conditioners placed under fans installed in the air conditioners.

The city of Vera Cruz has become hell.

“We have never experienced such extreme heat before,” M.T. Mendoza, director of the Kogra Nursing Home, told reporters. “It is not only intense but also long-lasting. This heat wave has claimed many lives in the city of Vera Cruz.”

According to the official figures available, 125 deaths have occurred due to heat wave while more than 2300 have suffered from de-hydration and sunburn.

This heat wave is flowing like a waterfall. That is why we have told people to leave the house only if it is very important and that too between 10 am and 5 pm.

Even though it is mild, a wave of drought is affecting states across the Central American continent, including Mexico.
