Prayagraj, 27 August (HS). Allahabad High Court has fixed 18 September for hearing the appeal of outgoing SP MLA from Sisamau seat of Kanpur Irfan Solanki and his brother Rizwan Solanki against the sentence in the case of arson to occupy a woman's house.
This order has been given by Justice Rajiv Mishra after the state government sought time. The Special Court (MP-MLA) of Kanpur has sentenced five people including Irfan Solanki and Rizwan Solanki to seven years imprisonment on the charge of arson at the house of Nazir Fatima, a resident of Defense Colony. In the appeal against this order, a demand has been made to cancel the sentence and order to release them on bail till the decision is taken.
It is worth noting that Irfan Solanki's membership from the Legislative Assembly has been cancelled due to his sentence of seven years imprisonment. A bail application has been filed on behalf of another accused Yakub in the same case.
