But today when she looks back, she sees a journey that has given her a wealth of ‘experience’ and ‘understanding’.
Rani recently said, “After becoming a mother, I became more of a ‘queen’.” There is a lot of depth in this one sentence. Often we think that after the birth of a child, a woman’s identity gets blurred, but for Rani this feeling was completely opposite.
How did motherhood change your perspective on cinema?
Rani admits that after the arrival of her daughter Adira, her emotions have become deeper. She says that when you become a mother, you start seeing the world from a different perspective. Now she likes to choose only those films and characters which can leave a deep impression on the society. This is the reason why in the last few years, we have seen her in powerful characters like ‘Hichki’ and ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’, which were inspired to some extent by her feelings as a mother.

Rani believes that success does not happen overnight. Be it the role of a blind and deaf girl in the film ‘Black’ or a tough police officer in ‘Mardaani’, she has proved herself every time. Challenges were not new to him, but what never changed was his dedication towards his work. Today she wants to be a part of those films which make her daughter feel proud.
