The US government is soon going to launch the first round of lottery for the beneficiaries of H-1B visa. Applicants will be selected through a lottery from among previously submitted electronic applications for H-1B visas to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Registrations for H-1B visas have recently closed. The last date for initial registration of H-1B visa for fiscal year 2025 was March 22. However, later it was extended to March 25.

USCIS has announced that the lottery date will be announced soon. Since the demand for H-1B visas is highest, the US agency uses a lottery system.

America issues H-1B visas to 85 thousand people every year. Of these, 20 thousand visas are given to those who obtain a degree from any university in America. The remaining 65 thousand visas are given through lottery system.

According to USCIS, after the end of registration, those who will be selected will be informed about this on their myUSCIS online account by March 31. After this, online forms for HB cap petition will be submitted from April 1. H-1B non-cap date to be announced soon.

USCIS said Application Form I-129 for Nonimmigrant Worker and Application Form I-907 for Premium Service are available online.

Visa applications for the financial year 2025 will be taken from April 1. After years, the American government has also increased the visa fees. Visa fee has been increased from $10 to $110. At the same time, the registration fee for H-1B visa has also been increased from $10 to $215.

H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa. It allows American companies to hire foreign workers. Whenever a person works in an American company, he is issued an H-1B visa. Initially it is valid for 3 years, which can be extended up to 6 years.

The biggest beneficiaries of H-1B visas are Indians. According to statistics, more than 70 percent of the H-1B visas issued by America every year are to Indians.
