New Delhi: In the State Energy and Climate Index of NITI Aayog, Gujarat has topped among the big states. Gujarat tops the category of big states with 50.1 marks.

Ranking of all states released

The index aims to rank states and union territories on six parameters, which include performance of power distribution companies, energy efficiency and access to energy.

Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand lag behind

According to the NITI Aayog report, Gujarat is followed by Kerala and Punjab. States like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand remained behind in this list. Among smaller states, Goa tops the index. It is followed by Tripura and Manipur.

Ranked on these parameters

The purpose of SECI Chakra-1 is to rank the states and union territories on six parameters. These parameters include (1) performance of power distribution companies (discoms), (2) energy access, affordability and reliability, (3) clean energy initiatives, (4) energy efficiency, (5) sustainable environment and (6) new initiatives. Are included. These parameters include a total of 27 indicators.

States and Union Territories will be able to compare their benchmarks using the index and will be able to develop better policy regimes.
