Kanpur, 30 July (HS). Due to lack of international cricket matches for three years, Green Park Stadium was limited to domestic matches only. The result of this was that the maintenance of the stadium by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) became less. Not only this, the condition of other spectator galleries including C balcony became dilapidated. Now with the test match between India and Bangladesh being held, Green Park's days are once again looking bright and preparations are in full swing these days.
As the dates of the test match between India and Bangladesh to be held in Green Park from September 27 are coming closer, the State Cricket Association has also become serious about the preparations. Seeing that the funds for the renovation of the C balcony and other galleries are not being approved, now its eyes are once again fixed on the spectator capacity. Although earlier an agreement was made between the Sports Department and the UPCA that the UPCA itself would bear half the cost of construction, but due to some reasons it withdrew its steps. Due to which no renovation work was done in the stadium. Now along with increasing the spectator capacity, the UPCA has started insisting on completing the remaining work on time. Here the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association is working on every aspect to make this match memorable. At the same time, the repair work in the stadium has also started rapidly.
Uttam Kesarwani, representative of UPCA President Yadupati Singhania, said on Tuesday that there is very little time and all preparations have to be done in this time. The renovation that is currently going on will enhance the beauty of Green Park, but our goal is to increase the spectator capacity. For this, we are planning seating in the spectator galleries and wherever there is a possibility of seats, seats will be installed there. For this, a team of engineers has also inspected the entire stadium. At the same time, the days of Green Park Stadium, which has been longing for painting for a long time, are now looking better.
