ACP Rajneesh Upadhyay said that on June 28, Ashok Kumar, resident of Khara Kua Chowk near Arthala Shiv Mandir, had filed a report that an unknown person killed his mother after assaulting her. He took away her earrings, nose ring and some money kept behind the idol of the temple. Police arrested the accused on the basis of manual input CCTV footage and information from an informer and solved the case on Saturday. Police arrested the deceased's grandson Vinod from near Hindon bridge in this case.
The accused told the police that he had come to his maternal uncle Ashok's house from his native place Sambhal about two months ago. Here he rented a shop in Arthala and started making chowmein, samosas etc. He had been playing online Jupi Ludo and Teen Patti games for a long time, in which he lost a lot of money in the last one year. He became a debtor and was not able to pay back the shop's money. On the day of the incident, when he asked for money from his grandmother, she refused to give it. In anger, I put my knee on grandmother's chest and pressed her mouth and neck, due to which she died. After that, I left from there taking grandmother's earrings and about two thousand rupees kept near the temple in the house. After that, I opened my shop normally without telling anyone. The money that I took with me was spent on playing games and coming and going.
