Laos/New Delhi, September 21 (HS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held an important meeting with Myanmar's Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Affairs Dr. Kan Zaw on Saturday. Apart from this, he also held meaningful talks with Inkyo Cheong, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea.
Commerce Minister Goyal said that on the occasion of the 12th East Asia Summit Economic Ministers' Meeting, he met Myanmar's Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Affairs Dr. Kan Zaw. During this, they discussed many important issues. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is on a two-day official visit to Vientiane, Laos.
Goyal said that possible cooperation in areas such as pulses, diesel, gasoline, electric vehicles etc. and ways to promote bilateral trade through the rupee-kyat currency mechanism were discussed with Dr. Kan Jo. Along with this, they discussed matters related to the review of ASEAN-India Goods Trade Agreement (AITIGA) and the upcoming Joint Trade Committee meeting.
The Commerce Minister said that he had a fruitful dialogue with the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, Inkyo Cheong. He said that during the talks, discussions were held on achieving a more balanced trade, upgrading the India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), promoting investment linked to job creation and removing non-tariff barriers to further strengthen our economic relations.
