Government employees made eight demands before the budget

Budget 2024-25 recommendation for government employees: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the Union Budget on July 23. In which the budget is likely to be presented on the basis of recommendations received from various sectors. Many demands have been made by the central government employees in this budget, including the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission and the demand to deposit the 18 months' arrears of dearness allowance, which was stuck during the Kovid-19 epidemic.

The Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers has written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary on July 6 expressing various demands. Which has been appealed to be implemented in the budget 2024-25.

This is what government employees expect from the budget

1. 8th pay commission should be implemented immediately

2. End the new pension scheme and implement the old pension scheme on all employees

3. Demand to deposit the undeclared dearness allowance during the Covid pandemic in the account and restore the commuted part of pension after 12 years instead of 15 years

4. Remove the 5% cap on compensatory appointments, make compensatory appointments to dependents of deceased employees in all wards

5. Fill vacancies in all cadres in all departments, stop outsourcing and contracting in government departments.

6. Recognise the associations/federations which are pending, withdraw the orders of derecognising Postal Group C Union, NFPE, ISROSA.

7. Stop imposing Rule 15 1(c) on service associations/unions

8. Regularize casual, contract workers and GDS employees, give equal status to employees of autonomous bodies as CG employees. The union will also protest during lunch time on July 19 for these demands.

Confederation General Secretary SB Yadav said, “We want to implement the 8th Pay Commission from January 2026. For this, the commission will have to be formed immediately. Regarding the increase in dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission, when asked whether the government would do so. 50% increase in DA as a percentage of basic salary, the labor affairs expert said, “Yes, the government can increase DA by more than 50 percent. In the 4th Pay Commission, DA increased.” However, the government also gave interim relief.
