New Delhi, 20 September (HS). Amid fears of increase in interest rates in America, there are signs of pressure from the global market today. Wall Street closed with losses during the last trading session. Dow Johns Futures is also trading with a decline today. European markets also closed with mixed results after trading under sustained pressure during the previous session. There seems to be all-round pressure in the Asian markets today.
The US Federal Reserve is going to meet today. During the last session before this meeting, there was a continuous atmosphere of tension on Wall Street, due to which investors were seen avoiding making big purchases. The S&P 500 index closed at 4,443.95 points with a weakness of 0.22 percent during the previous session. Similarly, Nasdaq ended the last session’s trading at the level of 13,678.19 points with a decline of 0.23 percent. Today, Dow Johns Futures is also seen trading at the level of 34,472.35 points with a weakness of 0.13 percent.
European markets were also seen trading under pressure during the last session. However, due to buying support at the end of the trading session, FTSE and CAC indices managed to close with slight gains. The FTSE index closed at 7,660.20 points with a slight rise of 0.09 percent. Similarly, the CAC index ended the last session’s trading at the level of 7,282.12 points with a rise of 0.8 percent. On the other hand, the DAX index closed at 15,664.48 points with a weakness of 0.40 percent.
There is continuous pressure in Asian markets today. Out of 9 markets in Asia, only the Jakarta Composite Index is showing a slight rise, while the indices of all the remaining 8 markets are trading in the red with a decline. In the trading so far, the Jakarta Composite Index is seen trading at the level of 7,027.71 points with a gain of 0.68 percent.
On the other hand, GIFT Nifty is trading at the level of 20,059 points, falling 0.20 percent. Similarly, the Straits Times Index is seen trading at the level of 3,234.09 points with a weakness of 0.21 percent. Nikkei index has fallen 150.15 points or 0.45 percent in the trading so far and has reached the level of 33,092.44 points. Similarly, Taiwan Weighted Index is trading at the level of 16,581.89 points with a weakness of 0.33 percent. Hang Seng Index is also seen trading at the level of 17,862.36 points with a decline of 134.8 points or 0.75 percent in the trading so far. Similarly, the SET Composite Index has also fallen by 0.97 percent and reached the level of 1,508.26 points. Apart from this, Kospi index is trading 0.17 percent weaker at the level of 2,554.87 points and Shanghai Composite Index is trading at 3,114.76 points with a decline of 0.33 percent.
