Gautam Adani will not only manage the port but will also build ships, this is his plan

Adani Port, owned by the country's second richest man and billionaire businessman Gautam Adani, is currently the country's largest port management company. This company also operates India's largest private port, Mundra Port. But now Gautam Adani has gone ahead and made a big plan to build big ships in the country.

The Adani Group has started moving towards building ships at its Mundra port. This is because countries like China, South Korea and Japan cannot build new ships until 2028, as the major shipyards here are fully booked till 2028. In such a situation, global companies with fleets are focusing on other manufacturing sites including India to build new ships.

India will be included in top-10

At present, India is the twentieth largest shipbuilding country in the world. India's share in the world commercial shipbuilding market is only 0.05 percent. Whereas the government has set a target of bringing India to the top-10 in this matter in its 'Maritime India Vision 2030'. This target has been placed in the top-5 in the 'Samudra Amrit Kaal Vision' of 'Developed India 2047'. In such a situation, this step of Gautam Adani will play an important role in achieving this goal of the government.

Adani's shipbuilding plan

Looking at Gautam Adani's shipbuilding plan, he was already working on it, but Mundra Port's Rs. 45,000 crore expansion plan stopped it. According to media reports, Mundra Port has recently received approval related to environment and other coastal rules for expansion. In such a situation, now he can move forward on this plan. But no response has been given by the Adani Group in this regard yet.

The world needs 50,000 ships

The news of Adani Group starting a shipbuilding business comes at a time when the world is moving towards green ships to reduce carbon footprint. This will require the transformation of shipping fleets around the world and supply about 50,000 ships over the next 30 years to replace all the world's ships.

Currently, India has 8 government and about 20 private shipyards for shipbuilding. These include Larsen & Toubro's Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai and the government's Cochin Shipyard.
