Ganja worth Rs 15 lakhs brought from Odisha caught in Mirzapur, two smugglers arrested

Mirzapur, 07 July (HS). A joint team of Adalhat police, SOG and surveillance stopped a car at Rasulaganj crossing and searched it. 53 kg of ganja was recovered from the car, which is estimated to be worth Rs 15 lakh. Police seized the ganja and arrested two smugglers travelling in the car.

Additional Superintendent of Police Operation OP Singh told during a press conference in the auditorium of Police Line on Sunday that the police team arrested two ganja smugglers Mohammad Shadab and Ali Imam, residents of Tekur, from near Rasulaganj crossing late Saturday night. Three sacks and one bag were recovered from the rear seat and trunk of the smugglers' car, in which 52.900 kg of ganja was seized. These people bring ganja from Orissa and supply it to various places in Mirzapur and nearby districts.

ASP said that legal action has been taken against the arrested accused and they have been sent to jail. Ganja and the car used in smuggling have been seized.
