Firozabad, 21 August (HS). On Wednesday, the Rasulpur police team arrested five people, including the history-sheeter husband, accused of dowry murder, and sent them to jail. After the death of the married woman, the arrested accused had hidden the body in a suitcase and thrown it in the canal to avoid police action.
Pramod Kumar, a resident of Bhim Nagar New Abadi of Thana Dakshin, married his daughter Raunak to Prashant alias Jackie, son of Mahipal, a resident of Asafabad Gurudev Nagar of Thana Rasulpur area in November 2023. The father alleges that on August 18, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, husband Jackie beat up his daughter Raunak when she asked him to go to her maternal home. After which Raunak died by hanging in the room. When the in-laws came to know about this, they were shocked.
To avoid police action, they called the neighborhood carpenter to open the door and threatened him not to tell anyone about the incident. After which the in-laws hid the dead body of the married woman in a suitcase and took it away in a car and threw it in the canal. On Raksha Bandhan, when father Pramod reached in-laws' house to meet daughter Raunak, the in-laws told him that Raunak had gone to her maternal home saying that she was going to her parents' house. After which the father got suspicious and registered a missing person report in the police station. The police swung into action and enquiries were made around the in-laws' house. In which the police came to know about the entire incident one by one and then when the police took the in-laws into custody and interrogated them, the entire truth came out.
The police registered a dowry murder case on the complaint of the father and on Wednesday arrested the accused husband Prashant and Jackie, father-in-law Mahipal, mother-in-law Shashi, sister-in-law Kanchan and brother-in-law Sunny, residents of Gurdev Nagar Asafabad and sent them to jail. According to police records, the accused husband Jackie is a history-sheeter. He has a criminal history.
