To increase the income of farmers, emphasis should be laid on increasing the production and productivity of pulses, oilseeds and coarse grains in agricultural diversification. Farmers are the future of the country. This was said by the Chief Guest, State Minister of Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Research, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Baldev Singh Aulakh, while addressing the closing ceremony of the three-day 31st Regional Annual Workshop of 89 Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Uttar Pradesh organized by ICAR: Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) Zone-3 Kanpur at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut on Thursday.
He said that farmers should be encouraged to use organic fertilizers in farming. This will reduce the cost of fertilizers and also increase their income. He also encouraged the conservation and value addition of indigenous species.
On this occasion, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Research Council, Vikas Gupta said that farmers are the future of the country. Therefore, after distribution of seeds and plant material for demonstration, he advised to prepare success stories on the covered area and display the products of innovative farmers and women farmers in Krishi Vigyan Kendras. On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Minister of State for Agriculture and other guests honored the representatives of Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Farmer Producer Organizations doing excellent work in various fields by giving them certificates.
New Delhi Assistant Director General Agriculture Extension Dr. Ranjay Kumar Singh said that the three-day brainstorming session held in the workshop will definitely prove beneficial for the farmers of the state. He emphasized on making the Krishi Vigyan Kendras more digital. Former Deputy Director General Extension Dr. P. Das presented his research paper as the lead speaker. Dr. Sushil Kumar, Director Indian Crop Systems Research Institute Meerut, former Vice Chancellor Agriculture University Jammu Dr. GP Sharma also delivered lectures. Dr. Raghavendra Singh, Principal Scientist of ICAR Atari Zone-3 Kanpur presented the progress report of three days in detail. Representatives of many farmer producer organizations of the state told about natural farming and production of coarse grains. Director Extension Dr. PK Singh thanked all the guests at the end of the program. On this occasion, former Assistant Director General Randhir Singh, Director Extension Dr. NK Vajpayee, Dr. Seema Yadav and other officers and scientists were present.
