Mumbai: Fans are surprised to know that South’s unsuccessful and much criticized film ‘Kanguwa’ has also jumped into the Oscar race. It is believed that the makers of the film, which has not been appreciated by any Indian critic, have sent a private entry to the Oscars only for publicity.
The Oscars announced the list of films eligible for entry into the Oscars this year. When it was revealed that the name of ‘Kanguva’ of artists including Surya Bobby Deol is also included in it, fans made many comments.
This list also includes ‘All We Imagine as Light’, which was highly appreciated in many film festivals in the country and abroad. In fact many Indian film fans have expressed the view that India should have sent ‘All We Imagine as Light’ instead of ‘Lapatta Ladies’ as the official entry. ‘Lapatta Ladies’ could not make it to the shortlisted films of Oscar.
Other Indian films in the Oscar race include Adujivattam, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Girls Will Be Girls, Putul and Santosh.
The nomination process for Oscar will start from January 8 and will continue till January 12. Date of final list of nominated persons. It will be released on 17th August. The Oscar awards ceremony will be held on March 2.
