EOU Raids 6 Locations Linked to Kewati BDO Chandra Mohan Paswan; Accused of Possessing Assets 81% in Excess of Declared Income

Under the policy against corruption in Bihar, the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has carried out another major action. In connection with the case of acquiring disproportionate assets, the EOU team started simultaneous raids at six different locations of Block Development Officer (BDO) Chandra Mohan Paswan of Kevati block of Darbhanga district at around 7:00 am on Wednesday morning. After the search warrant was issued by the special surveillance court located in Muzaffarpur, several teams of EOU have simultaneously raided the government and private premises of BDO. This sudden action of raid has created a stir in the administrative department.

Simultaneous raid from Kevati to Madhubani and Sitamarhi

Teams under the leadership of top officials of EOU are conducting intensive searches at various locations of BDO Chandra Mohan Paswan. The scope of investigation extends to many districts. The teams are simultaneously sifting through the documents at the following BDO locations:

  • Official office of BDO located at Keoti, Darbhanga.

  • Official residence of BDO located in Keoti.

  • His personal residence is located in Bahadurpur police station area of ​​Darbhanga.

  • Ancestral residence situated in Bainsi village of Babubarhi block of Madhubani district.

  • His nursing home named ‘GT Health Care’, located in Babubarhi East Market of Madhubani, was closed.

  • Another BDO hideout located in Sitamarhi district.

Assets estimated at 81 percent more than income, team examining documents

According to sources and some media reports, after preliminary investigation and verification of secret complaints, it has come to light that the total movable and immovable assets of BDO are about 81 percent more than their legitimate and declared sources of income. Chandra Mohan Paswan is facing a serious allegation of illegally acquiring property worth more than Rs 89 lakh 13 thousand 500 during his service period.

During the raid, EOU officials are closely examining the bank accounts, fixed deposits, deeds of lands and flats in the name of BDOs and their family members. Apart from this, investments made in various sectors, gold and silver jewelery and other valuables and important documents are being evaluated. However, no final statement has yet been officially issued by the EOU regarding the total recovery or the total actual value of the property.

Crowd gathered at the block office, entry banned in the rooms

As soon as the EOU vehicles reached the Keoti block office complex and government residence on Wednesday morning, this news spread like wildfire in the entire area. Within no time a huge crowd of local people and personnel gathered outside the block office and residence. In view of security, the police force has surrounded the entire premises and no outsider or employee is being allowed inside the rooms during the investigation. People gathered at the spot are discussing various things about this immense empire of BDO and the raid.
