Dhaka: Amid widespread riots against the quota system in Bangladesh, the Indian High Commission has advised Indian students and citizens living in Bangladesh to stay at home.

The origin of these riots lies in the fact that the country's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has passed a law to reserve 30% of seats in educational institutions and government and semi-government institutions for soldiers who participated in the war against Pakistan. The families of the independence of Bangladesh and the general public, against which an appeal has been made in the country's Supreme Court. The hearing of that case is scheduled to begin on August 7. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has appealed to the public to wait till the verdict comes and maintain peace and harmony. But neither the students nor the public are ready to listen to the appeal of this daughter of Bangladesh's creator 'Banga Bandhu' Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The riots going on against him for the last few days took an extremely violent turn today. To suppress it, the police had to resort to tear gas and then firing. As a result, at least 6 people died.

These riots were not limited to Dhaka only but also spread to cities like Chittagong, Khulna etc. An angry Sheikh Hasina said that I had asked to wait till the decision of the Supreme Court, yet if these riots are happening then the Razakars and their descendants who faced the freedom struggle may be behind it. This criticism of Sheikh Hasina has further increased the anger among the students and the general public. But observers say that there is truth in Sheikh Hasina's allegation. There is a possibility that Pakistan is also behind these riots. Along with this, China is also getting strength through Myanmar. They cannot tolerate the India-Bangladesh conflict. Therefore, riots are organized to destabilize the government on any pretext.
