Electricity consumers in UP will no longer be able to pay their bills through cheque. This provision has been made by Power Corporation Managing Director Pankaj Kumar on September 16. According to this new rule, this step has been taken due to increasing cases of check bounce and problems in clearing. This will make payment of electricity bill smooth and easy.
Number of electricity consumers in Lucknow
The number of electricity consumers in Lucknow is very large, and its management will now become even easier. There are approximately 12 lakh consumers in Lucknow every month, out of which 80 thousand are domestic and commercial consumers.
Process for depositing bills with cheques
According to electricity department officials, consumers whose bills are deposited through cheque, will no longer be able to use check to pay their bills under this new rule. The consumer will have to resort to other suitable methods to pay the bill.

According to this new rule, the consumers who are billed through MRI will be billed after reading the bill by 10th. This will not cause any delay in bill payment and the consumer will get a chance to pay the electricity bill on time.

If there is any problem with any consumer’s meter, the process of meter replacement will be initiated immediately. With this, the consumer will be able to get electricity supply without any delay.
