Election Commission’s strict decision, till this date the ban on rallies and road shows will continue

New Delhi: The Election Commission has taken a big decision before the elections to be held in 5 states. The Election Commission has banned all election rallies and road shows in these states till January 22. The Election Commission had earlier banned all election rallies till January 15. Now this decision has been taken forward once again.

Ban on physical rallies and road shows

This decision has been taken in view of the increasing cases of Corona. The Election Commission tweeted that the ban on all physical rallies and road shows has been extended till January 22, 2022. However, during this time political parties can hold meetings in indoor halls with 50 percent capacity. Apart from this, 300 people can be called following social distance.

Decision taken after reviewing the situation with the officials

The Election Commission on Saturday held a review meeting with the Union Health Ministry, Chief Secretaries of Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and Chief Electoral Officers of all the five states. The officials reviewed the situation in view of the current situation of corona infection in the country and its trend in the five electoral states.

Election commission will review again on 22 January

Apart from this, the Election Commission has instructed the states and district administrations to strictly follow the Kovid-19 guidelines. The Election Commission will review the situation again on January 22, till then political parties will have to campaign digitally.
