Barabanki, 26 June (HS). The Kotwali Nagar Police, SWAT and Surveillance team of the district have arrested eight members of a nomadic gang. Sandalwood, smack and a pistol with cartridges have been recovered from their possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police Chiranjeevi Nath Sinha said on Wednesday that the arrested accused are Arkaash, Ajay Kumar, Jalbaz, Khelvar, Sanju, Elvar, Arjun and Jarkas from Madhya Pradesh. One of them is a juvenile. Police have recovered sandalwood worth Rs. 70 lakh, 590 grams of illegal smack, pistol with three live cartridges etc. from the criminals.
ASP told that late last night, several precious sandalwood trees planted in the residence of the former CMO were cut down by unknown thieves. When the police received a complaint about this, the electronic technology of the police revealed that this is a nomadic gang, which is staying near Banki station. When these people were caught and questioned, it was found that the people of this gang had committed this crime. The people of this nomadic gang are residents of Katni in Madhya Pradesh. After committing the crime, they shift their camp to another place. After receiving a tip-off, the police caught them. If they were not caught, they were planning to commit the crime in other police station areas of the district as well.
