Prayagraj, June 10 (HS). A week-long summer school on research design and research methodology was started by the Department of Political Science of Ishwar Sharan PG College. Dr. Shivharsh Singh, coordinator of the Department of Political Science, said that research work must have social utility. For this, the researcher should follow the sequential rules and steps of research.
He said that for the past several years, the Department of Political Science has been organizing summer schools on various topics. In the department, it has been made compulsory for researchers to present their research progress on a weekly basis. On the first day of the summer school, Dr. Shivharsh Singh, quoting from Creswell's book on research design, “Research Design: Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed Method”, said that care should be taken while selecting the topic of research, personal interest, relevance of the topic, researcher's access to available data on the topic, analysis of data, etc. should be taken into consideration while selecting the research problem.
Dr. Akhilesh Pal, sociologist, election analyst and assistant professor of political science department, said that the researcher must keep objectivity in mind while collecting data on the field. While collecting data, different types of variables should be taken into account so that there is diversity in the data. Analysis of data based on different variables gives an idea of the broad scope of the research. Dr. Pal guided the researchers with examples of research topics based on Indian political system and election system.
Assistant Professor of Political Science, Dr. Ankit Pathak said that the research topic creates the academic identity of the researcher. Therefore, while selecting the research topic, the researcher should keep in mind his interests, priorities and ideology. He said that along with individuality, there should also be objectivity in research. Therefore, the researcher should follow the proper research methodology.
On this occasion, the synopsis of the new researchers of the Department of Political Science was examined and suggestions were given for amendments. During this time, many researchers and students including Kalpana Yadav, Aamir Ansari, Mukesh Kumar, Manish Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, Shivam Tripathi, Suraj Sanghvi, Shivani Modi, Ravi Mishra, Kaushalendra Kumar Shukla, Anurag Singh and Brijesh Kumar were present.
