New Delhi, 22 April (HS). The domestic stock market appeared to be in high spirits on the first trading day of the week itself. Today's trading started on a strong note. There was pressure of profit booking in the early trading, but after 11 pm, the bulls completely dominated the market, due to which the stock market kept rising continuously. After the entire day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.77 percent and Nifty with a gain of 0.86 percent.
Today, due to the support of continuous buying during the day's trading, all the sectoral indices of BSE were successful in closing with gains. There was vigorous buying in shares of pharmaceutical, banking and infrastructure sectors today. Similarly, FMCG, Automobile, IT, Public Sector Enterprise and Metal indices also managed to close on a strong note. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.93 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap Index ended today's trading with a gain of 1.26 percent.
Today, due to the surge in the market, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 5 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased to Rs 398.25 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the last trading day of last week i.e. Friday, their market capitalization was Rs 393.45 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 4.80 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 4,057 shares in BSE during the day's trading. Of these, 2,622 shares closed with gains, while 1,281 shares were in decline, while 154 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,237 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,640 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 597 shares closed in the red after incurring losses. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 25 shares closed with gains and 5 shares closed with decline. Whereas out of the stocks included in Nifty, 44 stocks closed in the green mark and 6 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today at 73,666.51 points with a gain of 578.18 points. Due to profit-booking starting as soon as the trading started, this index fell by about 440 points from the opening level to 73,227.32 points in the first hour of trading. But after this, all-round buying started in the market, due to which the movement of this index increased. With the support of continuous buying, this index reached the level of 73,767.80 points with a gain of 679.47 points, shortly before the end of today's trading. After buying and selling throughout the day, the Sensex closed at 73,648.62 points with a gain of 560.29 points.
Like Sensex, NSE's Nifty jumped 189.90 points today and started trading at 22,336.90. Due to selling which started as soon as the market opened, this index fell to 22,198.15 points. But after the end of the first hour of trading, the bulls took the lead, due to which the movement of Nifty increased. Due to continuous buying, this index strengthened by 228.65 points and reached 22,375.65 points. However, in the last half-hour of trading, due to selling due to intra-day settlement, Nifty fell by about 40 points from the upper level and closed at 22,336.40 points with a gain of 189.40 points.
After buying and selling throughout the day, the top 5 gainers of the stock market were BPCL by 3.01 percent, Tata Consumer Products by 2.89 percent, Eicher Motors by 2.83 percent, Larsen & Toubro by 2.68 percent and Shriram Finance by 2.46 percent. Joined the list. On the other hand, NTPC 2.18 percent, HDFC Bank 1.25 percent, JSW Steel 1.16 percent, IndusInd Bank 0.31 percent and Tata Steel joined the list of today's top 5 losers with a weakness of 0.15 percent.
