Paris, August 2 (HS). Serbia's legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic entered the semi-finals of the men's singles event by making a memorable comeback against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Djokovic has kept his hopes of his first Olympic gold alive after defeating Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 in the quarter-finals.
In the second set, Djokovic was clearly uncomfortable and called the physio twice for his right knee. The veteran tennis star won the first set comfortably. Tsitsipas relied on his strong backhand game, but Djokovic's accurate forehand shots allowed him to dominate the Greek tennis player.
After winning the opening set 6–3, Djokovic began to struggle after experiencing pain in his right knee.
After receiving treatment, the Serbian star looked more confident in his movement. He saved three set points at 4-5 and eventually won the second set 7-6 to punch his ticket to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Djokovic will face 11th seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, who caused a remarkable upset by beating reigning Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev.
Musetti defeated the German star 7-5, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Djokovic recently faced Musetti in the Wimbledon semifinals and defeated him by winning in three consecutive sets. If Djokovic wins his match against the Italian and Carlos Alcaraz manages to win his last four matches, the two will face each other in the gold medal match. Alcaraz defeated Tommy Paul 6-3, 7-6 (7) to enter the semifinals.
