Denmark draws with England, Spain beats Italy to enter last 16

Berlin, June 21 (HS). Spain entered the last 16 after defeating Italy with a Ricardo Calafiori own goal in a Group B match in the second round of the Euro 2024 group stage on Thursday, while England played out a 1-1 draw with Denmark.

England started the match strongly and Harry Kane opened the scoring for his team in the 18th minute. However, Denmark equalised the score at 1-1 with Morten Hulmand's goal in the 34th minute and this score proved to be decisive in the end.

In the second match of Group C, Serbia played a 1-1 draw against Slovenia thanks to Luka Jovic's injury time goal. Benjamin Sesko scored for Slovenia in the 69th minute.

With these results, England (4 points) remain on top of Group C, followed by Denmark, Slovenia (both 2 points) and Serbia (1 point).

In Group B, Spain secured their place in the last 16 with their second consecutive win.

Spain dominated the one-sided match but failed to score a goal, although Italy suffered a setback in the second half when Spain took a 1-0 lead thanks to a Calafiori own goal in the 55th minute. Italy did not have any strategy to penetrate Spain's defense and eventually Spain managed to win the match 1-0.

Spain top Group B with six points, while Italy are second with three points, followed by Albania and Croatia both with one point each.
