Declaration of one day mourning on the death of Iran's President

New Delhi, May 20 (Hindustan Reporter) India has declared a day of national mourning on the death of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi. According to the Home Ministry, in honor of the departed souls, the Government of India has announced one day state mourning in the entire country on 21 May (Tuesday).

Islamic Republic of Iran President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Islamic Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian have died in a helicopter crash, the Interior Ministry said. In honor of the departed souls, the Government of India has declared one-day state mourning across the country on 21 May 2024 (Tuesday). On the day of mourning, the national flag will be flown at half mast on all buildings where the national flag is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment programs on that day.

It is noteworthy that the helicopter of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi crashed yesterday while returning from Azerbaijan. In this, four prominent leaders of the country including him were killed. The helicopter crashed due to bad weather and hilly terrain.

A statement from the Embassy of Iran in India said that Iran and India have a long history of shared happiness and sorrow. The Iranian people will definitely remember the support and sympathy extended by the Indian government and people during these difficult times following the martyrdom of the Iranian President.
