welfare: A three-storey building collapsed in Dattanagar complex of Dombivali this afternoon. In this accident, Sunil Lodaya (age 55), husband of a Kutchi couple living in the building, died and his wife was seriously injured.
After receiving information about this incident, fire brigade personnel of Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation started the rescue operation.
According to the information received, the Adinarayan building located on New Eyre Road in Dombivali was dangerous and due to cracks in the building, the municipality had to vacate it yesterday evening. This building collapsed in the torrential rain this afternoon. Fire brigade personnel of Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation reached the spot and started the work of removing the debris. The body of fifty-five year old Sunil Lodaya was found under the debris of this building. It is being told that two days ago the municipality gave prior notice and evacuated most of the buildings, due to which a major accident was averted.
The municipality had already vacated the building as it was illegal. Along with the fire brigade, the local disaster management team also reached for help. This action continued till late night.
