Typhoon Gaami has wreaked havoc in China
Seven more people were reported dead due to torrential rains caused by the storm, bringing the total death toll to 22. All the deaths occurred in Hunan province. Heavy rains have been lashing eastern Hunan for the past few days. According to an agency, four people were reported dead and three missing in four villages in Jixing city. Xinhua said the rains damaged hundreds of houses in the city and forced the evacuation of more than 11,000 people.
Dead bodies of people were found in the village
A report showed that the bodies of three other missing persons were found in a village in a nearby city. CCTV showed that Datai died due to a landslide. Also, at least seven people were killed in an area to the south, with 15 dead and six others injured after a landslide hit a homestay house on Sunday morning. Rains caused two sections of the Xuanshui River in Hunan's Xiangtan county to burst and displaced more than 3,000 people on Sunday, Xinhua said.
The river was flooded due to heavy rains
Gaami also brought heavy rains to northeastern China and North Korea, causing flooding along the Yalu River that divides the two countries. There were reports of severe flooding in the Chinese border city of Dandong and along the North Korean border.
