Customs officials at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI) recovered money from a passenger arriving from Bangkok on the night of December 19-20. Ganja worth more than Rs 11 crore was seized.
The passenger was caught with 11.322 kg of suspected hydroponic ganja, worth approximately Rs 11.32 crore. According to the news agency, customs officials prepared a profile of the passenger based on intelligence and upon further investigation, recovered the illegal substance hidden in a vacuum-sealed plastic pouch inside the trolley bag of the passenger, which is classified as a high-grade contraband. Cannabis is considered a narcotic drug. Its market price is also quite high.
Adopts new methods for smuggling
Cases of smuggling of gold and drugs are increasing in India. Then they adopt the method of infiltration of drugs and gold into India in some way or the other. But customs officials are keeping a close watch on Indian airports. The Customs Department in Teva detected two cases of gold smuggling at Mumbai Airport during 18-19 December. They seized a total of 2.073 kg of 24 carat gold, which was smuggled through new methods.

A day ago, Customs officials at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport had busted smuggling of over 2 kg of gold worth Rs 1.48 crore. Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted on this occasion that, we congratulate the hard work of the officers. very well done.
Gold worth more than 2 kg seized
On December 18-19, officials at CSMI Airport, Mumbai seized 2.073 kg of gold worth Rs 1.48 crore in 2 cases, Mumbai Customs said in an official statement. The traveler had hidden this gold in his body. While in another case the gold was recovered from an airport employee which was handed over by a transit passenger. In which two people have been detained in the case.
In the first case a traveler tried to smuggle gold dust hidden in wax inside his body cavity. Customs officials acted on a tip-off and detected the illegal consignment. In another case a private airport employee was caught with smuggled gold being carried by a transit passenger. The staff member was found carrying 24 carat gold dust in wax, which he intended to smuggle out of the airport. Both the persons involved in these incidents have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
