Controversy over construction of police post in front of Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Owaisi and administration face to face

Sambhal Police Chowki DM And Owa

The controversy over the police post being built in front of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid is not stopping. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has raised questions about this and claimed that the land on which the post is being built is Waqf land. He also presented some documents in support of his claim. However, the District Magistrate (DM) of Sambhal rejected Owaisi’s claims and said that the land is the property of the municipality.

DM’s statement on construction of police post

Sambhal District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia, while giving clarification on this controversy, said that Satyavrat police post is being constructed on the land of Municipal Council. He told,
“None of the documents that have come out so far are valid and effective. These documents are unregistered. If any other person submits documents, they will also be examined as per rules.”

The DM clarified that the land is registered in the name of the population in the records of the municipality and it is the property of the municipality. He also said that the construction work is legally correct and action will be taken against any wrong claim.

Owaisi’s claim: Waqf Board land

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi shared a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on December 31, claiming that the land on which the police post is being built is Waqf Board property. they wrote,
“This land is registered under Waqf No. 39-A, Moradabad. “Construction work is prohibited here near the monument protected under the Ancient Monuments Act.”

Owaisi accused the Uttar Pradesh government of not respecting the law. He said,
“The Uttar Pradesh government is busy capturing Waqf lands. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are creating a dangerous environment in this matter.”

Waqf land issue at the center of controversy

Owaisi shared the Waqfnama and other documents to support his claims, in which he described the land as Waqf property. The AIMIM chief also said the state government was violating laws and ignoring provisions prohibiting construction work near religious places.

government and administration side

Rejecting Owaisi’s claims, the Sambhal administration clarified that the post is being constructed on municipal property. According to DM,
“The documents submitted so far are not legally valid.”

The municipality claims that the land is registered in government records, and has no connection with the Waqf Board.

Owaisi’s allegations: Attempt to spoil the political atmosphere

Asaduddin Owaisi gave a religious and political color to the issue and alleged that the police post was being constructed to intimidate the Muslim community and promote divisive politics. He said,
“The intention of the government is not clear. “This step has been taken deliberately to create tension and target minorities.”

the way forward

This dispute is not just a matter of land ownership in Sambhal, but it is being made a religious and political issue. The situation remains tense between the allegations and counter-allegations of the administration and Owaisi.

  • Role of Waqf Board: Waqf Board will have to clarify the situation in this matter.
  • legal process: The administration will have to resolve the dispute by conducting a transparent investigation of the claims.
  • Social Stress: Political and religious leaders should make efforts to maintain peace instead of instigating this matter.

The police post being built in front of Jama Masjid in Sambhal has now become the center of legal and political battle. It will be interesting to see how this dispute will be resolved.
