Lucknow, May 25 (HS). Voting is being held on 14 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh today (Saturday) from 7 am. Complaints of EVM malfunction have started in this sixth phase of elections. Voting has started a little late at many places.

Voting is being held in 14 seats of the sixth phase namely Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkarnagar, Shravasti, Dumariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabirnagar, Lalganj (reserved), Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr (reserved) and Bhadohi district. Voting percentage report is not yet out, but complaints of EVM malfunctions have started coming in as soon as voting began.

The districts in which EVM complaints have been received include booth number 193, 194, booth number 24, 25 in Soraon assembly of Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency. Similarly, EVMs have malfunctioned at booth number 35, 36 in Sultanpur of Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 43 in Pratappur of Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 176 in Akbarpur of Ambedkarnagar Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 69 in Patti of Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 184 in Pindra assembly of Machhlishahr Lok Sabha constituency.

Apart from this, reports of EVM malfunctioning have been received from booth number 303 in Basti Sadar of Basti Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 150 in Bhinga of Shravasti Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 187, 329, 330 and 331 in Meja of Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency, booth number 192 in Malhani Assembly of Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency and booth number 171 and 282 in Gopalpur Assembly of Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Similarly, voting started at 7:25 am in Junior High School Nizamabad of Nizamabad Tehsil area of ​​Azamgarh district. Due to some problem in the machine, voting started with a delay of about 25 minutes. At the same time, voting was interrupted at 7:50 am due to a malfunction of the voting machine at polling station Rowan in Rani Ki Sarai Mohammadpur block. Voters were seen waiting till the machine was repaired.

Samajwadi Party has complained to the Chief Election Commission about EVM malfunctions in the polling districts. The commission said that sector magistrates have been deployed at polling stations, wherever complaints of EVM malfunctions have been received, the same have been rectified immediately and voting has been resumed. EVMs have also been replaced.
