Bhopal, January 03: The severity of cold is continuously increasing in Madhya Pradesh. Due to the drop in temperature, people are feeling chilly and as the evening approaches, silence is seen on the streets. On Friday, there was dense and moderate fog in some parts of the state. The day’s maximum temperature was recorded below 24 degrees Celsius in 15 cities. The effect of fog continued in the northern districts even on Saturday morning.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of dense fog in the state for the next three days. After this the winter will become more intense. This time in December, cold wave lasted for 15 to 16 days in many districts including Bhopal and Indore. The same situation is likely to persist in January also. The Meteorological Department said that due to snowfall in the hilly states and the activity of western disturbance, the effect of cold will increase further in Madhya Pradesh. Dense fog along with cold wave, cold day and severe cold will continue in the morning. On Friday, the speed of the jet stream reached 213 kilometers per hour, due to which cold winds continued to blow during the day.

The Meteorological Department estimates that the cold wave may last for 15 to 20 days in January. Pachmarhi was the coldest place in the state on Thursday-Friday night. Due to fog, many trains going towards Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior were delayed for two hours. Malwa, Shatabdi, Sachkhand and other trains coming from Delhi were also affected by fog. Visibility in Khajuraho was reduced to 50 metres. Visibility was also very low in Bhopal, Datia, Gwalior, Ratlam, Damoh, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Guna, Indore, Raisen, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Malajkhand, Sheopur, Narmadapuram, Seoni, Naugaon and Mandla.

On January 4, fog alert has been issued in Gwalior, Shivpuri, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Rewa, Satna, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Maihar, Singrauli, Sidhi, Shahdol and Umaria. At the same time, on January 5, the effect of fog will be more visible in Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, Rewa and Shahdol divisions.
