To boost its plan to provide solar power to one crore homes, the government has taken steps to develop a strong skilled workforce to install and operate solar panels. The Skill Scheme has been jointly launched by the Ministry of Renewable Energy, Skill Development and Industry. This entire exercise has been done to promote PM Surya Ghar: Mufta Bijli Yojana. The government's rooftop solar scheme aims to provide 300 units of electricity to households through grid-connected solar panels. This scheme was implemented in February this year. Under which the families who want to install solar panels will be given a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000.
Currently there is a plan to train one lakh people but this number can be increased as per the need and demand of the scheme. Government-owned REC Limited is the nodal agency for improving the rooftop solar programme. The agency will also work to establish collaboration with centers such as the National Electrical Training Institute and the National Skill Development Corporation. Not only this, the government is also planning to train 50,000 hawkers to install solar panels and manage them.
Measures to meet maximum electricity demand
An official statement said the government has taken adequate measures to meet the estimated peak power demand of 235 GW in May and 240 GW in June.
