Campaigning for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections ends, voting on 58 seats on Saturday

New Delhi, May 23 (HS). The campaign for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections came to an end on Thursday evening. In this phase, voting will be held on 58 seats in eight states including Delhi, Haryana, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday (May 25). A total of 889 candidates are in the fray for 58 seats in this phase. Voting will also be held on 42 seats of Odisha Assembly in this phase.

Talking about state-wise figures, 86 candidates are in the fray for 8 seats in Bihar, 223 for 10 seats in Haryana, 20 for one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, 93 for 4 seats in Jharkhand, 162 for 7 seats in Delhi, 64 for 6 seats in Odisha, 162 for 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh and 69 candidates are in the fray for 8 seats in West Bengal.

In the sixth phase, all the seven seats of Delhi – Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi and South Delhi, all the 10 seats of Haryana – Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Gurgaon and Faridabad, 14 seats of Uttar Pradesh – Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shravasti, Dumariaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machlishahr and Bhadohi, eight seats of West Bengal. Seats- Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura and Bishnupur, four seats of Jharkhand Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur, eight seats of Bihar Valmiki Nagar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Vaishali, Gopalganj (SC ), Siwan and Maharajganj, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, Anantnag-Rajouri and six seats in Odisha, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar (SC), Cuttack and Sambalpur.

In the sixth phase, three former Chief Ministers and three Union Ministers are in the fray. Deependra Hooda is once again contesting elections from Rohtak seat of Haryana on behalf of Congress. Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal is contesting from Karnal. Union Minister Krishna Pal Singh Gurjar is contesting from BJP on Faridabad seat. Industrialist Naveen Jindal is contesting as a BJP candidate for the first time from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat. Congress-AAP alliance has fielded Dr. Sushil Gupta in front of him. BJP has again nominated Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh from Gurgaon seat of Haryana. Actor and former MP Raj Babbar is contesting from the Congress side.

Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, is contesting for the first time on a BJP ticket from New Delhi constituency. Singer-actor Manoj Tiwari is contesting for the third time from North West Delhi constituency.

Former Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh is contesting from East Champaran Lok Sabha seat of Bihar. Bahubali Shahabuddin's wife Hina Shahab is contesting as an independent candidate from Siwan Lok Sabha seat of Bihar. Jagadambika Pal is contesting for the fifth time as a BJP candidate from Dumariyaganj.

BJP has fielded Soumendu Adhikari, brother of Subhendu Adhikari, from Kanthi seat in West Bengal. There is a tough contest between Congress and BJP on Ranchi seat of Jharkhand. Here Yashaswini Sahay, daughter of former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, is contesting against BJP's Sanjay Seth. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is contesting from Sambalpur seat of Odisha. BJP leader Sambit Patra is contesting from Puri.

People's Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti is contesting from Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag-Rajouri seat. Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua is contesting as a BJP candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat. Akhilesh Yadav's cousin Dharmendra Yadav is contesting from SP.
