Kushinagar, May 22 (HS). The programs of the 2568th Buddha Purnima celebrations on Thursday started from Wednesday evening itself at Kushinagar, the Mahaparinirvana Sthal of Gautam Buddha of international importance. Buddha's followers and monks started coming to Kushinagar since morning. In the evening, Sangha donation was given to about 108 foreign Buddhist monks including India. Many religious and cultural programs, rituals, processions and meetings will start throughout the day till late night tomorrow. Buddhist monasteries and temples have been specially decorated on this occasion.
Leading tourism businessman TK Rai gave Sanghdan to the monks and told them that giving donation is an important religious program in Buddhism. Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini with the name of Siddhartha on Vaishakh Purnima almost two thousand years ago. He attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya on the same day. He attained Mahaparinirvana in Kushinagar at the age of 80 on Vaishakh Purnima. In the end, the organizing monks recited sutras for the auspicious future of the donors. During this, Bhante Ashok, Thai Bhante Gan, Dr. Veena Kumari, Morin Rai, Mallika, Dr. SK Singh, RM Gupta, Khema, Niharika, Mausam, Vinay and Ramangina etc. were present.
