Today i.e. on 6th January, the festival of Sakat Chauth is being celebrated with great devotion all over North India. Mothers have started worshiping Ganpati since morning and offering of sesame laddus is also ready.
But as we all know, the real challenge of this fast begins at night, when amidst thirst and hunger one has to wait for the moon to rise in the sky.
‘Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga’ is being formed today
According to astrologers, today is a very special day. Today on Sakat Chauth, ‘Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga’ is being created. It is said that in this yoga, the results of the vows made and the worship done increase manifold. But yes, Bhadra’s shadow will also be there for some time in the afternoon, hence Pandit ji’s advice is that evening would be the best time for puja.
When will the moon rise in your city tonight?
Like every year, the time of moon sighting will vary slightly from city to city. Women wait for this moment the most.
- Delhi-NCR: The moon is likely to be visible tonight at around 08:35 PM.
- Lucknow (UP): Moonrise may occur a little early here i.e. at 08:18 pm.
- Jaipur (Rajasthan): The moon will appear in the Pink City at 08:44 pm.
- Patna (Bihar): Here it will be time to break the fast around 08:02 pm.
- Mumbai: In this seaside city, the moon will be visible the latest i.e. at around 09:12.
(Note: Timings may vary by a few minutes due to clouds or fog, so keep an eye on your rooftops.)
Method of worship of Sakat Chauth
It is mandatory to listen to the fast story, but remember to offer Durva and sesame and jaggery to Lord Ganesha today. When the moon rises, look at the moon through a sieve and offer Arghya with a silver coin or a pot of pure water. While offering Arghya, take the names of your children in your mind and pray to Bappa for their safe future.
