Bank employee, CBI aide arrested in bribery case

New Delhi: The CBI on Saturday said it has arrested an employee of State Bank of India, Amravati (Maharashtra) and his accomplice in a bribery case.

According to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official, against Amar Khade, Sales Executive, SBI Cap Securities, Home Loan Division, State Bank of India and his associate Nikhil were responsible for processing and sanctioning top-up loans on transfer of home loans. A case was registered for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The accused informed the complainant to shift the loan account to SBI Camp branch instead of ICICI Bank. Accordingly, the victim applied for transfer of loan as well as sanction of top up loan from SBI. It was also alleged that the accused transferred home loan account and issued top up loan.

Thereafter, the accused allegedly visited the victim’s house and demanded an illegal bribe of Rs 20,000 from her for the work. The victim decided to contact the Federal Investigation Agency. After registering the case, CBI formed a team of officers to nab the accused red-handed. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 as part payment from the victim.

Later, the investigating agency searched the premises of the accused, in which incriminating documents were recovered. Amar Khade’s aide Nikhil has also been arrested. Both the arrested accused will be produced in the court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Amravati (Maharashtra) on Saturday.
